Summary
- Amazon expands Kindle Colorsoft lineup with a new 16GB model and a kids version.
- The Kindle Colorsoft 16GB costs $250, and has less storage than the $280 Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, which has 32GB.
- The Kindle Colorsoft Kids is designed for children, and includes age-appropriate features, illustrated covers, and a one-year Amazon Kids+ subscription.
Amazon introduced the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition last year, its first-ever e-reader with a color E Ink display. Now, the e-commerce giant is expanding its Kindle Colorsoft lineup to make it more accessible to budget-conscious readers and kids.
Amazon has unveiled two new Kindle Colorsoft models. The first is a more affordable version, simply called the Kindle Colorsoft, and the second is designed for children, called the Kindle Colorsoft Kids.
The new Kindle Colorsoft costs $250 and offers 16GB of storage. Like the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, it features a high-contrast display, quick page turns, an adjustable warm light, and up to eight weeks of battery life.
However, there are some trade-offs. Since the new Kindle Colorsoft 16GB costs $30 less than the Colorsoft Signature Edition (which is $280), it lacks some of the premium features of its more expensive counterpart, such as 32GB of storage, an auto-adjusting front light, and wireless charging. The new Kindle Colorsoft is available now, and you can check it out on Amazon below.

Amazon launched the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition last year, but it was initially plagued by screen issues, with users reporting experiencing a yellow discoloration effect. This led Amazon to temporarily pause shipments of the device so that it could be fixed. Amazon has since addressed the issue.
