Xiaomi announced its latest e-reader in China. The Moaan InkPalm Mini Plus 2 brings a 5.84-inch e-ink display, runs Android 14, and features up to 512GB storage. That’s quite impressive given that competitors like Amazon Kindle series usually top out at 32GB. There’s a point to be made that you’ll never need that much storage on an e-reader, but it’s still great to see Xiaomi giving users this option.
InkPalm Mini Plus 2 is more in line with a smartphone in terms of dimensions, measuring in at 158.9 x 78.6 x 6.9mm. That’s noticeably narrower than a Kindle Paperwhite, which comes in at 180 x 120 x 8.1 mm. Xiaomi’s new e-reader is also lighter at 140 grams.
The rest of the specs include Rockchip RK3566 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and a 2,250mAh battery. The 1,440 x 720px e-ink display features AG etched silicon glass with 32 levels of color temperature and 256 levels of grayscale. For connectivity, you get Bluetooth 5.1 and dual-band Wi-Fi 5. The Mini Plus 2 also features speakers for audiobooks.
Sadly, the InkPalm Mini Plus 2 is exclusive to China for the time being, and Xiaomi has not announced plans to bring the device to global markets just yet. It retails for CNY 1,399 ($196) with deliveries scheduled for September 22.
